Scoopt is entering a new era. We are now owned and operated by Getty Images, the world’s leading creator and distributor of visual content.

The Scoopt site and our team remain in place, but we now have the scale to better market your content to a global media audience.

What this means for you as a Scoopt member...

We believe this is fantastic news for you. Getty Images supplies imagery around the clock to thousands of media companies worldwide, including newspapers, magazines and broadcasters.

The Getty Images team is looking to bring your newsworthy content to the press community. Its extensive sales team knows who to contact to market your pictures and videos, and understands their true value.

So, now that we're part of Getty Images, we have significantly expanded the scope of Scoopt's sales reach. No other user-generated editorial content source comes close. If the media wants your picture, we'll sell it to them - and you'll get paid a royalty every time.

Q. Am I still a member of Scoopt?

A. Yes you are, IF you have already agreed to the new terms and conditions. We emailed all members about this severaltimes between March and the end of June 2007. If you find that you cannot log itno this new Scoopt site, you might not have agreed to the new terms, in which case please rejoin Scoopt now.

Q. What are the new T&Cs?

A. There are three key changes that you need to be aware of:

1. The royalty payment to members will be 40% of gross sales prices. Click here for more details about this. Getty Images will be actively marketing the best images submitted to Scoopt through its global sales network, so your chances of making a high value sale or multiple sales are greatly increased.

2. You will now be paid by the 25th of the month that begins three (3) months after the month in which licenses are invoiced or otherwise charged by Scoopt, or reported to Scoopt by a licensee of Scoopt.

3. The initial exclusivity period is now twelve (12) months. We are adding new sales routes on the Scoopt site itself and tapping into the full sales power of Getty Images, so this time period ensures that we can maximise sales opportunities on your behalf.

Q. Do I still submit photos to Scoopt in the normal way?

A. Absolutely, although you will notice that we have improved the upload and management tools.

Q. Can I now upload my images directly to gettyimages.com too?

A. No, you will continue to use the Scoopt site to upload your images.

Q. I already have images on Scoopt. When will these be available on gettyimages.com/editorial?

A. The existing Scoopt collection has gone through a rigorous selection procedure and those images that met the Getty Images standards are now available to customers on gettyimages.com/editorial (captioned as a Scoopt collection).

Q. How will I know if I have made any sales?

A. The Scoopt team will contact you by email just as before to tell you the price and the publication.

Q. Can I apply for a proper, professional photographer job at Getty Images?

A. All open positions at Getty Images worldwide are published on www.gettyimagesjobs.com, and we encourage you to apply for any vacancies that you think match your skill set and experience.

Q. Can I have a Scoopt / Getty Images press card to get into events?

A. No, sorry.

Q. What happened to ScooptWords?

A. We have closed ScooptWords in order to focus fully on licensing imagery to the media.

Q. How do I leave Scoopt?

A. We really hope you don’t want to leave us as we working hard to make your experience of using Scoopt both profitable and fun. However, if you do wish to leave please send an email to contact@scoopt.com. Please tell us which email address and mobile phone number you used to register with Scoopt so we can find you on our database. Your personal details and any photos you have submitted will then be permanently deleted from our site one month later or, in the case of photos that are still subject to an exclusive period, one month after the end of that period. Please note that Scoopt’s previous terms and conditions, which were in force until 12th March 2007, required a three month exclusive period.
