Your favourite people’s favourite places

Scoopt is a way for friends to recommend great new places to each other. So you only see recommendations from people you trust. No random strangers’ reviews. And no ads.

It’s the brainchild of founder Glynn Jones, brought to life by a small, brilliant team of technical and creative people. We’re backed by investors and executives from major brands in mobile, technology, investment, marketing, communications and retail.

Why do you need Scoopt?

When you’re looking for a new restaurant, the best place to shop, or even just a nice quiet park, you just want to find the right place fast.

Googling’s no good. Who wants to stand on the street scrolling through endless unfiltered results? And it’s always tricky to know what’s genuine and what’s an ad.

Review sites aren’t much better: which opinions can you trust? It’s just a bunch of strangers. (Some of whom seem very strange indeed.)

Your real friends, digitally

On Scoopt, you trust the recommendations because you trust the people. They’re your real friends, not random social network people. And they’re on your Scoopt because they know their stuff.

If they really know their stuff, you can even upgrade them to ‘Trusted’ status. So, if your friend Jeff always seems to know the hottest new restaurant to try, you can Trust him on Food & Drink. That means you’ll also see recommendations from his Trusted friends for that category.

Honest and independent

All the recommendations on Scoopt are real. There are no ads – you can’t buy your way onto Scoopt.

Why? Because that’s how social networks should be: useful. They can do more than just chat. They can inspire you, and enrich your world. But only if you trust the network. That’s the heart of Scoopt.

As we grow, we may team up with some of restaurants, stores and other places our members love, and invite them to offer special deals exclusive to Scoopt. But no one will be able to post ads, or get any other special treatment. Ever. Trust us on that.

Glynn Jones - Founder and CEO

Glynn Jones

Glynn’s online experience goes back to the days of the ‘information superhighway.’ In 1994, he built the European Union’s first website in Brussels, at a time when the internet Yellow Pages only listed 20 sites.

In 1997, Glynn created his first start-up, with names like GlaxoSmithKline, General Motors and Microsoft. And things kept getting bigger. He went on to work with some of the world’s biggest brands, across three continents, and led a 100-strong team responsible for a £15bn banking system.

In his time, Glynn’s worked in every area of online business – from shopping and banking to news and entertainment portals. He’s spent the last three years as a strategic consultant for Orange. But now, he’s all about Scoopt.
